The main goal of the Boat Party was to create a large-scale, inclusive, and memorable event that strengthened the bond between international students, local students, and volunteers while promoting Bordeaux’s cultural heritage.
By privatizing an entire boat for an evening cruise on the Garonne River, we aimed to combine celebration, discovery, and community spirit in one unique experience.
This activity had several objectives:
• Offer international students an affordable and original way to discover Bordeaux’s river landscape — one of the city’s emblematic treasures.
• Encourage intercultural exchanges in a festive yet safe and inclusive environment.
• Ensure the well-being and security of all participants through the presence of a complete Safety Team and strict organizational coordination.
• Foster inclusivity by offering diverse food options (vegan, vegetarian, omnivore) so that everyone could fully enjoy the event without barriers.
Ultimately, the goal was to celebrate mobility and diversity through a unifying event that left a strong impression on more than 300 participants, both volunteers and students.
The ESN Bordeaux Boat Party was one of the most emblematic events of the year, gathering around 300 participants aboard a fully reserved boat for an evening cruise on the Garonne River.
The event began with a scenic tour of Bordeaux by night, offering international students the chance to discover the city from a new perspective while enjoying a festive yet safe atmosphere. The organization was handled by several poles of ESN Bordeaux, with strong inter-team collaboration that ensured smooth logistics, catering, and safety management.
To guarantee inclusivity, the catering service offered meals for everyone — including vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore options — ensuring no participant felt left out. The Safety Team was fully operational throughout the event, ensuring risk prevention, crowd management, and overall well-being of attendees.
Beyond the festive aspect, the Boat Party had an important cultural and social dimension. It allowed students to explore Bordeaux’s river heritage, one of the most symbolic elements of the city, while creating long-lasting memories with other participants from around the world.
The event was also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the sense of community within ESN Bordeaux — both among volunteers and between local and international students — proving that safety, inclusion, and fun can coexist in a large-scale, well-organized event.
