To introduce international students to Slovakia’s cultural and natural heritage, foster intercultural dialogue, and build stronger connections between French and Slovak participants through shared experiences and experiential learning.
Tour de Slovaquie was a six-day journey across Slovakia designed to showcase the country's most remarkable natural sites and cultural landmarks to a group of French university students. The program aimed to foster intercultural understanding, encourage participation in student mobility, and build bridges between Slovak and French youth.
On the first day, participants visited the iconic Spiš Castle and explored Poprad, including a relaxing afternoon at AquaCity Poprad and a walk through the city center.
The second day was dedicated to the High Tatras: we hiked from Štrbské Pleso to Popradské Pleso and up to Ostrva. In the evening, local hosts prepared a traditional dinner, followed by a Slovak Cultural Night with presentations about Slovak culture, history, and traditions.
The third day led the group through the scenic region of Telgárt to Banská Bystrica. We visited the Museum in Nemecká and the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP), deepening our understanding of Slovak history.
On the fourth day, we explored Kremnica, following the footsteps of Slovakia’s mining heritage. Participants toured the Andrej mining tunnel and the city castle.
The fifth day was dedicated to Bratislava, featuring a guided city tour, and the group stayed overnight in Pezinok.
On the final day, we visited Košariská and the Milan Rastislav Štefánik Memorial. This day was devoted to the shared French-Slovak history and highlighted the role of Štefánik as a bridge between the two nations.
Throughout the week, the program included team-building activities, cultural exchanges, and opportunities for participants to reflect on their experiences and share their perspectives.
