Peer victimization, to which many people around the world are exposed, is defined as the repeated exposure of a student/students to the negative effects of another student/students in school life. This situation has negative consequences for both the bullied and the bullying people. The most important motto of our network is "STUDENT HELPS STUDENT".
This event was organized as part of SI Days. We decided to organize an event to raise awareness about this situation and to spread prevention. Since universities are in online education due to the current situation, we decided to hold an online webinar. Organizing a webinar was a good idea for the subject because we had not heard from other sections about this subject, but only the webinar was insufficient. That's why we decided to do something more resonant and thought about using social media well. First of all, we started to tell this issue to sections and people with stories to stop peer bullying. The mottos, sentences, and hashtags in the shared stories are widely used in the world. Sharing stories about peer bullying in the same poster layout every day created awareness. Because they started asking, "Why do you post these posters every day?" Then, as ESN Selcuk, we prepared an effect related to this subject with a new idea. By organizing a challenge with this effect, we wanted to interact and spread it with sections and people. We talked to a lot of people about this issue, especially since this process took place at the same time as the national event. Later, the webinar was organized and the content of the Peer Bullying Webinar we organized with Psychologist Ömer Paçal is as follows;
+What is Peer Victimization?
+Types of Peer Victimization
+Characteristics of bullies and victims
+Effects of peer victimization
+What can be done to reduce peer victimization?
And then, we prepared reels with the effect we made and said: "STOP PEER BULLYING". A pink t-shirt is usually worn for awareness. That's why we paid attention to this in the video. Finally, suggestions were received for TV series and movies about peer bullying. These suggestions will be used for another event in the future.We used some hashtags;
#PeerVictimization #EndPeerBullying #SpeakUpStandUpStopBullying #BeFriend #BeAnUpstander #RespectForAll #StopBullyingTogether
After this SI event, as ESN Selcuk, we decided to always lead our SI events with #AwarewithESNSelcuk.
