Rosalia E' Resistenza is a showcase/meeting of our cultural Heritage mixed with a step against the vandalism and the ugliness of the robberies and vandals activities in Palermo.
The Event took place from 28 of november till 5 of december with a lot of meetings and gatherings in the place who was transformed in a showcase of art. We invited the artist who would like to bring a "new face" for the Saint Rosalia who statue was stolen from a historical religious stand from 1200.
But not just that it was a meeting with the people of the borough to sensibilize the enviroment to take a step and say stop to the vandals, to the people who litter everywhere and who leave the center of Palermo as a dump. To sensibilize the Erasmus and people to not use your city as a garbage dump, but think: choose the right path and the path of beauty. It was enough when they stolen the statue so we organized the meeting with locals, the CORTO movie with the erasmus, and the showcase with the operas of the erasmus people and local citizens. We showed the story of Santa Rosalia protector of Palermo, by showing the heritage, the movies and the play. Santa Rosalia was not just a Religious simbol but a secular one, the "Santuzza" is of everyone in Palermo: citizens, strangers, erasmus.
We made a promess against the vandals: from now we say no.
The event were orgnaized by Francesco Pedone vicepresident of ESNpalermo and Rita Tolomeo a Newbie of ESNpalermo that gave the space of his Wanderlust social club to put the showcase and the confront panel and meeting. ESNpalermo invited the Erasmus and ESNers to propose the painting and to be actors of the corto movie that was shown in the night, then they came at the event and talk with the citizens and the mayor of the borough of the municipality Massimo Castiglia, and other individuals that came from all Palermo.
There were discussions, workshop and shows about how to change the mentality of the historic center that was left in dirt by the local administration.
The Corto movie called "Rosalia E' Resistenza" was created by Rita Tolomeo and Francesco Di Giuseppe (another ESNer of Palermo) and took place in some corners of the streets of the city, involving erasmus and ESNers to be the actors of the play, you can see it here :https://www.facebook.com/100264641422942/videos/335523217904639
