Participants explore the nature and culture of Northern Lapland and engage in various traditional activities.
The village of Kilpisjärvi is located in the northwest extremity of Finnish Lapland, bordered by Norway, Sweden, Kilpisjärvi lake and the majestic Saana fell, sacred to the Sami people. Here you can find the untouched nature, coldest temperatures, and highest snow levels in Finland, as well as the highest Northern light visibility! In addition to a variety of winter and nature activities, you can also make a day trip to Tromsø, Norway, and see the spectacular fjords!
Outcomes
Overall the trip went smoothly and everything was great. We saw the Northern Lights several times and they were quite powerful and visible. The people we were with was compatible in general so it was nice to have such company. All the activities went well and they were fun. One feedback I got was after a barbecue session, a girl came to me and said thank you for everything and I said I did nothing she said but ESN Tallinn organized this and you are volunteering for them and everything is amazing so thank you. It was a warm moment filled with emotions.
