Promote foreign cultures among local students and fight stereotypes; motivate locals to learn languages, be more open to international experiences and support the multicultural exchange.
Erasmus in Schools is one of the most prominent ESN projects, which is organized regularly in those countries, where the legislative allows it. The main idea behind the project is to let exchange students visit local schools and allow local students to directly meet other cultures and promote cultural exchange. Kindergartens, elementary schools, and high schools are participating. Therefore, students of all age categories are involved. For younger kids, simple games and songs are presented, while for older students, usually a country presentation and question round is prepared. Teachers appreciate that local students can get a direct experience with native speakers (not only English, but also German, Spanish, or French), which helps students with their language studies. It also allows students to meet other cultures, which helps their self-development, and it helps with the prevention of building prejudice towards foreigners.
