The event's main goal is to promote the practice of a healthy lifestyle and intercultural understanding, cooperation and inclusion, having the competition as the main activity. It also has a cultural aspect in which the objective is to show the city of Coimbra, known in Portugal as the “city of students”, to the participants and the international student community. A guided visit to the Biblioteca Joanina, a beautiful and historic library, was also given as an opportunity to the participants.
The purpose of the competition is for the winner to represent ESN Portugal at the International Erasmus Games. The ENG are a good opportunity to foster an active and healthy life during mobility periods, with the local organizations preparing their own Local Trials.
It’s also an opportunity for ESN Portugal and its associated local members to create new partnerships and strengthen relationships with already existing ones, such as the University of Coimbra.
The Erasmus National Games are a three-day national event, held in Coimbra, consisting mainly of a sports competition between teams representing ESN Portugal’s local associations and cultural and social program activities. The event aims to promote the practice of sports and healthy behaviours and lifestyle while fostering intercultural understanding and raising awareness for gender equality.
The event's main organizer is the Sports Coordinator of ESN Portugal, supported by a national organising committee and staff composed of members of the different local associations, with the supervision and support of the National Events Manager and the rest of the National Board.
