The goal of this activity was to provide our Erasmus students with a unique and meaningful experience on Burgazada, one of the Princes' Islands in Turkey. Through this tour, we aimed to achieve the following:
- Cultural Exploration: We wanted our Erasmus students to immerse themselves in the local culture and history of Burgazada by exploring the island on foot. This included visiting landmarks, interacting with locals, and gaining a deeper understanding of the island's significance in Turkish heritage.
- Environmental Awareness: The trash cleanup aspect of the activity served as an opportunity to raise environmental awareness and promote responsible tourism. By actively participating in cleaning up the island, we aimed to instill a sense of responsibility for preserving the natural beauty of the places they visit.
- Community Engagement: We sought to foster a sense of community and teamwork among the Erasmus students by engaging them in a collective effort to improve the environment. Cleaning up the island together provided an opportunity for bonding and collaboration.
- Sustainable Tourism: This activity aimed to promote sustainable tourism practices. By not only enjoying the island but also actively contributing to its cleanliness, we encouraged our students to be responsible and conscientious travelers.
In summary, the goal of the tour of Burgazada was to provide our Erasmus students with a holistic experience that combined cultural exploration, environmental responsibility, community engagement, and the promotion of sustainable tourism practices.
Burgazada Tour, being a Section Cooperation only added positively to all of these matters.
We embarked on a memorable journey to Burgazada, one of Istanbul's enchanting Princess' Islands, with our students and ESN Kadirhas partner section. During our visit, we explored the island's rich culture, including a Turkish author's house and a charming church.
After some free time to savor local cuisine, we gathered on the island's stunning shoreline, Madam Martha Cove, to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and crystal-clear waters. Our day concluded with a meaningful environmental initiative as we joined our Erasmus students in a voluntary beach cleanup, emphasizing our commitment to preserving the island's beauty.
