Women's Day - Movie Time

Welcome to this special event celebrating International Women's Day! On 8th March we gathered to commemorate the strength, resilience, and progress of women worldwide. To kickstart this meaningful evening, we chose to screen the movie "Hidden Figures," a powerful film that addresses important and thought-provoking themes of gender equality and the role of women in society.

The movie "Hidden Figures" transports us to the past, to a time when women struggled to assert their rights and find their place in a male-dominated world. The story reminds us of the importance of recognizing and valuing women's contributions in all spheres of life, including the workplace. Following the screening, we had the opportunity to explore these themes through an engaging panel discussion.

The panel discussion focused on what it means to be a woman today in different environments. We delved into how women confront challenges and opportunities in the business world, tackling issues such as the gender pay gap, career barriers, and the pursuit of equal opportunities. 

We also examined the role of women within the family, addressing concepts of shared domestic responsibilities and achieving work-life balance.

In addition, we discussed the role of women at home, exploring how societal expectations have influenced the division of household tasks and how we can promote greater equality in this area. It has been really touching to listen to participants confronting about their different backgrounds. 

We also emphasized the importance of education in schools and universities, highlighting women's empowerment through education and fostering a culture that supports gender equality. 

Since this event took place in Southern Italy, we paied particular attention to the specific issues that women face for just being born in south regions.

We explored the unique challenges that may arise in the south regions' society and culture, focusing on opportunities for growth and emerging empowerment initiatives.

Lastly, we addressed feminist issues related to sustainability.

We discussed about how women can play a crucial role in promoting environmental sustainability and combating climate change.

We expolored the importance of advancing a sustainable feminist agenda that integrates gender equality, social justice, and environmental responsibility.

Together, on this important day we celebrated the achievements of women, recognized the challenges they continue to face day by day, and foster a society where every woman can thrive and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future.
