Goal of the Activity

The goal of our weekend away in Antwerp was mainly to showcase Belgian culture. Further, students had the possibility to learn about the history of the city and its close connection to Dutch history. Students had a weekend outside of their usual surroundings to improve their mental health and enjoy a carefree weekend with an open mindset to new cultures and experiences. To support sustainable travel the choice of transport was a rented bus that was filled to the limit with organizing people and participants.

Description

The trip started with a crawl to classic Belgian pubs on the first night. On the second day, we organized a tour through the oldest brewery in town. The tour went into historic details of brewing beer in Belgium. On the same day, we also offered two guided city tours. One during the day and one during the night to explore the city together with a local and to learn about history, architecture, and much more. Lastly, we also organized a fun scavenger hunt through the city where participants had to figure out a story by going around the city.
