Goal of the Activity

The main goal of this activity was to showcase the Tihany peninsula and what it has to show for the international students. We went around the center of Tihany showing them the Tihany Echo, the beautiful landscape of Balaton, the Tihany Benedict Abbey, the stations of the cross of Karl the 4th and the general history of the lavender fields of Tihany.
After a visit to the Abbey we had a free time to eat some Hungarian lunch and then see the wine harvesting festival on the streets.
A hike and ground squirrel wathcing followed and a small visit on the way back to Budapest to the city of Veszprém.
We tried to give the most to the participants in a day, which was possible.

Discover the Beauty of Tihany – A Day Trip with ESN ELTE!

Join us for an unforgettable journey to one of Hungary's most scenic destinations – the Tihany Peninsula, known for its breathtaking views of Lake Balaton, historic landmarks, and charming atmosphere.

Our private bus will take you directly from Budapest to Tihany, where a full day of exploration and fun awaits. Upon arrival, we’ll start with a visit to the Tihany Benedictine Abbey and Monastery Museum, a centuries-old landmark offering both cultural insight and panoramic views.
