The aim of the Students Helping Animals initiative was to support the Karanténna Stanica pre Zvieratá Mesta Banská Bystrica in several ways: by collecting essential material items across all university campuses and buildings, by raising funds for the purchase of animal food, and by gathering bottles and cans from the deposit system to obtain additional supplies.
At the conclusion of the initiative, all collected items were delivered to the shelter, where we also assisted by taking the dogs for a walk.
Students Helping Animals was a heart-warming initiative created with one simple goal: to make life a little easier for the dogs and cats living in the Karanténna Stanica pre Zvieratá Mesta Banská Bystrica. Over the month of November, students and staff from all across the Matej Bel University joined in and showed just how big our community’s heart is.
Throughout the event, we collected all kinds of material donations – from blankets and toys to cleaning supplies and treats – at drop-off points across every campus. We encouraged everyone to bring what they already have and don't use anymore. We also raised money to buy high-quality food for the animals, and gathered bottles and cans through the deposit system to purchase even more supplies. The money was raised on a Doggo Party, where people came, had fun and also donated.
To wrap up the initiative, our volunteers with international students personally delivered everything to the shelter, met the amazing staff, and spent the day taking the dogs out for a well-deserved walk.
