Goal of the Activity
To explore marine biodiversity and maritime heritage together while strengthening community bonds within ESN through a shared cultural-nature experience.
Description
ESN Caen organised a visit to La Cité de la Mer, a maritime museum and aquarium located in the old Art-Deco transatlantic station in Cherbourg. Participants explored marine life through 17 aquariums including a deep-sea (abyssal) section, discovered the underwater world and its biodiversity, and boarded the historic submarine Le Redoutable — the largest submarine in the world open to the public. The outing was a mix of education, immersion into maritime history, and shared discovery among international students.
