The primary ogoal of this activity was to provide a warm and informative welcome to the international students from Burgas, helping them feel at ease in their new environment. By assisting them with travel arrangements and offering a guided tour of Plovdiv, we aimed to introduce them to the city's rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The tour was designed to be inclusive, taking into consideration the diverse backgrounds of the students and ensuring they felt respected and engaged. Ultimately, the event aimed to foster a sense of community and belonging among the international students, making their transition to Plovdiv as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
ESN Plovdiv organized an engaging activity to welcome international students from the city of Burgas. The event started with one of the local coordinators in Burgas assisting the students in purchasing train tickets and ensuring they boarded the train safely. Upon arrival in Plovdiv, three local coordinators were eagerly waiting to greet them. The group of international students hailed from various countries, including Turkey and Colombia.
After their journey, the students were quite hungry. Although a restaurant visit was initially planned, the immediate need for food led us to a nearby kebab shop. With their hunger satisfied, we embarked on a tour of Plovdiv, exploring the city center and the old town. Throughout the tour, we shared interesting facts and stories about the city's history. We also found time to stop for some bubble tea. Considering that many of the students were of Muslim background, we adapted the tour to include visits to two mosques instead of just one. The students were enthusiastic, capturing numerous photos and videos of their experience. In the afternoon, we accompanied them back to the train station for their return journey.
