Description

Polish Evening as Part of Erasmus+ Social Impact Days

As part of the autumn edition of Social Impact Days (11-24 November), we organized a Polish Evening in the dormitory, aimed at fostering integration between international students and the local community. The event took place in the dormitory’s common area, where we invited not only Erasmus program students but also local residents, creating a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and connection.

Polish Evening was a culinary event where we prepared and shared traditional Polish dishes such as pierogi, bigos, and żurek. Cooking and enjoying meals together created an informal and friendly environment conducive to conversations and building relationships. Both international students and local residents participated, enabling mutual understanding and bringing different cultures closer together.

During the event, important topics related to Social Impact Days were also discussed, including ecology, social assistance, and mental health. By organizing this initiative, we aimed to combine fun with meaningful discussions on issues important to both students and the local community. We had the opportunity to talk about challenges related to environmental protection and how to maintain mental well-being, especially in the context of student life.

We also involved local residents, who participated in the preparations and shared their experiences with local aid initiatives. During the meeting, we organized a donation drive for people in need and distributed educational materials on mental health and ecological actions, encouraging participants to actively engage in helping others.

During the event international students had opportunity to learn polish words and practice their pronunciation.

Polish Evening became an example of how dormitory spaces can be used to build intercultural bridges and involve the local community in activities for the common good. Through this event, we strengthened the bonds between international students and local residents, achieving the goals of Social Impact Days in an atmosphere of collaboration, integration, and joint efforts toward a better world.
