The aim of Play District is to promote sport and art as tools for inclusion and socialisation, offering everyone – children, young people and families – free opportunities for recreation, personal growth and sharing. Through laboratories, workshops and outdoor activities, the project aims to create meeting places where diversity and participation become the real added value of the community.
On Thursday, 12 June, at Baden Powell Park in Potenza, a special day marked the launch of Play District, a project that will accompany the summer with free outdoor workshops and activities. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the park was transformed into a space for meeting and sharing, where sport, art and urban culture came together in one great experience.
From urban art to break dancing, hip hop culture, volleyball and sitting volleyball, the day brought different worlds together, demonstrating how sport and art can become tools for aggregation and participation. In particular, sitting volleyball was a central part of the day, offering people with different abilities the opportunity to enjoy sport in a full and fun way, breaking down physical and cultural barriers.
Inclusion was the real keyword of the day: every activity was designed to welcome and involve everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, without distinction. Through play, creativity and team sports, all participants were able to experience the value of collaboration, mutual respect and feeling part of a community. The event, organised by the association La Potenza dell'Arte, in collaboration with ESN Sui-Generis Basilicata and Family Volley, with the support of Sport e Salute, kicked off a summer that will be marked not only by fun, but also by collective growth. A summer in which inclusion and participation take centre stage, thanks to a packed calendar of initiatives open to all.
