Our goal was to show our students the cultural and historic landmarks of Istanbul by encouraging slow and sustainable tourism as we walked all over Istanbul's most important parts, showig our Erasmus students the Turkish culture and informing them about the significance and the history of these places.
We started our Old Town tour, which is one of our classic events in our orientation weeks, from Karaköy, walking on the renowned Galata Bridge alongside its amazing view of the Bosphorus, a signature element of Istanbul's beauty. We walked over to the Archeology Museum in Fatih, another historically important neighbourhood in Istanbul and informed our students about it as we went on. We helped our students acquire their student museum cards at the museum before heading in and reviewing its broad collection of art pieces. We gave our students an hour to complete the museum and then moved onto the Blue Mosque, which is considered to be one of Turkey's most beautiful Mosques with its incredible architecture. We finished our tour at the Süleymaniye Mosque, watching the sunset on its courtyard before making a brief stop at our University's main campus.
