Goal of the Activity
The goal of the activity was to showcase cultural and natural heritage in the surroundings of Pisa to international students.
Description
We left from the central bus station to visit the Museum of Natural History of the University of Pisa, one of the oldest in the world, which is housed in the monumental complex of the Certosa di Calci (a 14th century building), just few km outside Pisa.
We organised a guided tour, led by one of our volunteers who is a Biology student, then, before returning to Pisa by bus, we went on hiking in Valgraziosa (Monti Pisani) to showcase the natural heritage embracing the ancient and beautiful building, which once hosted a comunity of monks who harvested and took care of the surrounding lands as well.
