Goal of the Activity

The picturesque hra Karlštejn, located near Prague, was built in the 14th century by Emperor Charles IV. as a royal castle and a place to keep the crown jewels and holy relics. The goal of the excursion was to tour the castle, to familiarize foreign students with Czech history in a more interesting way than they did only at school. In addition to the castle, the unique Malá and Velká Amerika quarries and beautiful nature are located in its vicinity, which the students could also see during the trip.

Description

During the trip to Karlštejn, foreign students could get to know one of the most famous Czech castles, which with its Gothic architecture with high towers, fortified walls, and beautiful interiors attracts the attention of visitors from all over the world. A tour of the castle made it possible to see rooms richly decorated with frescoes and historical artifacts. The tour of the castle was followed by a tour around the Malá and Velká Amerika quarries, which are the largest in the area. Karlštejn and the surrounding nature are a place near Prague that offers many opportunities to explore.
