The goal of the activity was to explore the surroundings of Freiburg (Basel is located only 45 minutes away) and get cultural experience. Being in a group full of internationals, we also enhanced socializing in an intercultural environment.
Basel is known for its beautiful historical centre. We therefore started the event with a city tour lead by a local ESNer from ESN Basel who was very passionate and gave the group valuable information not only about the city of Basel, but also about Switzerland in general.
Like many other Swiss cities, Basel offers a lot of modern architecture; while on the south side of the Rhine you can see the old town, on the north side you will find modern buildings such as the Messplatz. The river Rhine is also very attractive so we had a picknick lunch at the coast while enjoying the nice, sunny weather.
There are many great museums located in Basel so in the afternoon, participants could visit a museum of their choice.
At the end, participants played a quiz to see how much they learned about Switzerland. We hereby enhanced teamwork and intercultural experience.
