The objective of this activity was to introduce Erasmus students to the rich history and cultural heritage of Plovdiv by taking them on a comprehensive walking tour of the city's iconic landmarks, fostering knowledge, and building friendships along the way.
ESN Plovdiv orchestrated an enlightening Cultural Walking Tour of Plovdiv, carefully curated to unveil the layers of history and cultural significance embedded within the city.
Exploring Plovdiv's Treasures: The journey commenced at "Alyosha," a prominent statue situated on top of one of Plovdiv's hills, offering panoramic views of the city. The participants walked on a captivating visit to iconic sites such as the Roman Stadium, the Roman Theater, the enchanting Old Town, and the striking Mosque. Each stop provided a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Plovdiv's past, illuminating its storied history and architectural splendor.
Enriching History Lessons: ESN Plovdiv volunteers served as knowledgeable guides, imparting historical anecdotes and cultural insights throughout the tour. By delving into Bulgaria's past and the significance of each landmark, participants gained a deeper appreciation for the city's heritage, enriching their cultural experience.
Bonding and Friendships: Halfway through the tour, a delightful pause was made to savor a quintessential Bulgarian delicacy - mekitsi, a delectable fried bread. This interlude provided an opportunity for participants to not only indulge in local cuisine but also to bond over shared experiences, fostering friendships that transcended borders.
