Goal of the Activity

The goal of the project was to identify and address the psychological challenges faced by Erasmus students throughout their mobility journey, providing them with targeted support and solutions to enhance their mental health and overall well-being. By focusing on the emotional resilience, social integration, and coping strategies of students, the project aimed to offer a comprehensive approach to navigating cultural, social, and academic transitions. It sought to equip students with the psychological tools necessary to thrive in multicultural environments and contribute to the development of supportive systems for their mental health needs. Ultimately, the project aimed to foster greater awareness and understanding of the psychological aspects of student mobility, promote intercultural dialogue, and ensure that students' experiences abroad are enriching, inclusive, and supportive both during and after their mobility.

Description

The Erasmus Psychological Assessment Project is a groundbreaking initiative focused on addressing the mental health and well-being of students participating in Erasmus mobility programmes. Developed in collaboration with ESN Türkiye and the Türk Psikoloji Öğrencileri Çalışma Grubu (TPÖÇG), the project aims to identify and support Erasmus students in navigating the psychological challenges they face during their cultural, social, and academic transitions. By assessing students' coping mechanisms and emotional responses, the project provides targeted strategies and resources to help students thrive during their mobility experiences.

The project incorporates a comprehensive survey and expert evaluation process, which identifies key psychological needs and challenges. Through the expertise of a clinical psychologist, the collected data is analyzed to develop practical recommendations and strategies for overcoming these challenges. These findings are then compiled into a detailed results booklet, which serves as a valuable resource for Erasmus students, mentors, and mobility organisations.

Key activities include survey development and distribution, data collection, expert analysis, and the creation of a results booklet that promotes psychological well-being. The project also encourages wide participation and engagement, with the results booklet being shared across ESN networks and presented at various community meetings to raise awareness and foster dialogue around mental health in mobility programmes. This initiative aims to create long-lasting support for students’ mental health, both during and after their Erasmus experience.
