Goal of the Activity

This project gives 12- to 15-year-old boys from the "Sevgi House" (children's home for orphaned children) in Eskişehir the opportunity to improve their English skills by interacting with four different Erasmus students each week. Our aim is to make these children gain a world vision through interaction with individuals of diverse cultures, enhance their grasp of the English language, provide them with easy access to equal opportunities as other children, and enhance their self-esteem. In addition, this exposure allows the children to gain social skills and interact with a broader community

Description

Since April 22nd, we have a meeting with boys aged 12-15 from the Sevgi Evi (Children's Home for orphaned children) in Eskişehir every Tuesday. The activities are between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Two female and two male Erasmus students attend every week, and the same teacher attends every week. Before each activity, all students sign a participation consent form.

Through this project, the kids not only learn to communicate in English but also expand their knowledge by interacting with individuals from different societies. Through different themes covered every week, we keep the interest of children upland also improve their language skills and confidence. More than anything else, through these interactions, the kids come to realize that the entire world must be provided with equal opportunities to every individual.

The project is beyond the mere process of imparting language skills. It offers children the possibility to open themselves to a greater world, be themselves, and identify with other people's experiences. The contact established with Erasmus students offers them the opportunity to learn about different cultures, become sensitive, and develop tolerance. We are working together to build more tolerant and sensitive individuals in a world where everyone has equal opportunities. By this process, the children not only become language learners but also individuals who learn about their own values, identity, and worldview and become individuals who value others' differences.

The project will be concluding on May 27th, and the children participating will be given a participation certificate. This certificate will be a very important reminder of their participation and learning through this process.
