Goal of the Activity

The goal of the "Eat Safe, Buy Local" conference, organized by ST.E.P. ESN Pavia in collaboration with the Agrifood Sustainability course at the University of Pavia and Coldiretti, is to educate and empower students about sustainable food consumption and local production.

Through interactive lessons and discussions led by agri-food experts, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the agri-food system, its impact on sustainability, and how to make more conscious food choices. The conference aims to bridge the gap between consumers and local producers, highlighting the importance of supporting local markets and environmentally friendly food production.

Following the conference, students will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and explore traditional street markets, experiencing firsthand a key aspect of Italian culture and sustainable eating habits. This event is designed to inspire action toward a more sustainable future by promoting ethical consumption and support for local agriculture.

The "Eat Safe, Buy Local" conference, organized by ST.E.P. ESN Pavia in collaboration with the Agrifood Sustainability course at the University of Pavia and Coldiretti, was an insightful event aimed at educating students about sustainable food consumption and the importance of supporting local producers.

The event featured interactive lessons and discussions led by agri-food experts, who provided a deeper understanding of how the agri-food system works, its role in sustainability, and how to make more informed and eco-friendly food choices. Through engaging talks, participants learned about the environmental impact of food production and the significance of buying locally to reduce waste and carbon footprints.

Following the conference, we had the opportunity to visit local organic markets, where students could meet local farmers and producers, learn about their sustainable practices, and experience the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Italian street market. This immersive experience allowed participants to connect with local traditions, appreciate the value of fresh, locally sourced products, and embrace a more conscious and sustainable approach to food consumption.

The event successfully combined education, interaction, and hands-on experience, inspiring students to take action toward a more sustainable and responsible way of eating while supporting local agriculture and ethical food production.
