Goal of the Activity

A journey to explore the breathtaking Fairy Chimneys and Cappadocia, one of the most iconic destinations in Türkiye.

Description

On the night of December 13th, we set off on our exciting adventure. After arriving in Ürgüp early in the morning, we checked into our hotel and then headed out to explore Göreme Open Air Museum, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. The historical churches from the 10th, 11th, and 12th centuries left us in awe. Despite some of the paintings fading over time, their beauty and historical significance remain intact. Walking through the site, we could almost feel the weight of history surrounding us.

Following our museum visit, we had lunch at a buffet restaurant, a favorite among tourists. In the afternoon, we attended a pottery workshop, where we gained a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and patience required in this traditional art form. To end the first day, we visited Paşabağlar Monks Valley, known for its unique rock formations and peaceful atmosphere.

On the second day, we started with a delicious breakfast before setting out for trekking at Meskendir Valley. This was a perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature, breathe in the fresh air, and learn more about the fascinating rock formations and vegetation of the region. Our next stop was Özkonak Underground City, a place that amazed us with its intricate tunnels and rooms. It’s incredible to think that people lived in such confined spaces for extended periods in the past!

After a short lunch break, we jumped into an ATV tour, one of the most thrilling experiences in Cappadocia. Riding through the scenic valleys and dusty paths was truly unforgettable. As the day continued, we visited some of the most picturesque viewpoints to capture stunning photos together. We ended the second day with a lively Turkish Night, enjoying traditional dances, music, and lots of fun on the dance floor.

On our final day, we visited Ihlara Valley, where we enjoyed the serene environment, fed ducks and cats, and took in the beautiful landscape. Our journey continued with a visit to Selime Monastery, an extraordinary historical site with impressive rock-cut architecture. As much as we didn’t want the trip to end, it was finally time to head back to Eskişehir, taking with us unforgettable memories and new friendships.

Another amazing Cappadocia adventure is now in the books!
