The goal of the activity was to introduce Erasmus students to the serene beauty and cultural heritage of Burgazada, one of the Princes' Islands in Istanbul. This excursion aimed to provide students with an opportunity to relax in nature, explore local traditions, and strengthen their bonds through shared experiences in a picturesque setting.
We met at 11:00 AM at the Kabataş ferry terminal, where students gathered with excitement for our day trip to Burgazada. After distributing ferry tickets, we boarded the ferry and enjoyed a scenic ride across the Sea of Marmara, soaking in the sights of the city and the islands along the way.
Upon arrival at Burgazada, we were greeted by the charming atmosphere of the island, with its lush greenery and quaint houses lining the streets. After a short orientation, our guide led us on a leisurely walk through the island's picturesque paths, showcasing the island's rich history and cultural significance.
As we explored, we visited the historic Church of St. George and learned about its significance to the local community. Students took the opportunity to capture beautiful photographs of the stunning views of the sea and surrounding islands.
Following our exploration, we enjoyed a delicious traditional lunch at a local seafood restaurant, where everyone had the chance to try freshly caught fish and other local delicacies. The relaxed setting allowed for engaging conversations and laughter, strengthening the friendships within the group.
After lunch, we had free time to further explore the island. Some students chose to hike to the top of the hill for breathtaking views, while others strolled along the waterfront or relaxed at a café. As the sun began to set, we gathered again to reflect on the day's experiences, sharing favorite moments and insights about the island's charm.
The day concluded with a ferry ride back to the city, filled with laughter and stories from our adventure. The trip to Burgazada not only provided a peaceful escape from the bustling city but also created lasting memories and connections among the Erasmus students.
