The main aim of this basketball tournament was to highlight and sow awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities every day. By incorporating unconventional challenges into the game, the event gave participants a unique opportunity to experience the game from the perspective of different difficulties and disabilities. The event was not only intended to raise awareness among participants, but also to bring to light this extremely important topic.
The All Abilities Basketball Challenge was a unique event, as it highlighted in an innovative way the issues and challenges faced by people with disabilities, including disabled athletes. The event combined competition, fun, teamwork and also a very important learning. Before the game, each team drew special challenge cards - such as closed-eye dribbling or one-handed play - which encouraged players to move around the court with new limitations. It was a simulation, in a way, of some of the barriers experienced by people with disabilities, which helped to sensitise participants to this topic.
