The goal of the webinar was to raise awareness on gender equality just before March 8, International Women's Day, by hosting the distinguished Senior Psychologist and Professor at Yeditepe University, Leyla Soydinç. Additionally, we aimed to seek potential solutions to the issue, particularly, volunteering at Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation, which is established in 1990 in order to fight against violence against women.
Our honourable guest delivered a speech on violence against women and her experience as a volunteer at Mor Çatı. She defined the problems women currently face and presented the foundation. At Mor Çatı, the work against male violence is grounded in feminist principles, aiming for women to be able to build lives unhindered by gender-based discrimination and violence under free and equal conditions. In the course of the webinar, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the less noticeable but serious dimensions of the problem. At the end of the event, everyone was aware of the issue's scope and learned its possible solutions, ready to pass them to their local communities. The language of the activity was Turkish, but simultaneous English interpretation was provided for international students.
