The objective of the activity was to provide Erasmus students with a memorable experience exploring the scenic landscapes near Velingrad traveling with the "Tesnolineika", a train that goes through the Bulgarian montains.
The journey began with a train ride from Plovdiv to Septemvri, where the group transferred to a special train known as "Tesnolineika" bound for Velingrad.
Upon reaching Velingrad, the participants visited a local supermarket to purchase supplies for the day. Subsequently, the group proceeded to an artificial lake in Velingrad, where the main activities were planned.
At the lake, the participants divided into two groups. A smaller group embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour hiking adventure to nearby rocks, while the majority enjoyed a relaxing picnic near a hermitage close to the artificial lake. The Erasmus students indulged in food, played various games, including card games, and even shared baklava brought by one of the participants from a recent trip to Istanbul. A local dog joined the group during the picnic, adding to the camaraderie.
At the end of the picnic, the hikers returned, sharing stories of their enjoyable trek. Although most Erasmus students were from Plovdiv, a few attendees came from Veliko Tarnovo. Additionally, two Bulgarian girls joined the group during part of the journey.
Throughout the train ride, participants captured countless memories through photographs, both inside the train and between the carriages. It's worth noting that, before concluding the picnic, some Erasmus students left a bit early to visit a nearby hot spring, ensuring they returned in time for the return train.
In summary, ESN Plovdiv's Erasmus trip provided an opportunity for students to explore, connect, and create lasting memories in the picturesque surroundings of Velingrad. The event successfully combined adventure, cultural exchange, and the joy of shared experiences, fostering a sense of community among the diverse group of participants.
