To make a trip to Šumava and around
Hello everyone! 👋
Are you excited to explore more than the city you are studying in a go on the journey to the edge of our region?
🌲 Šumava National Park 🌳 is located around borders with Austria and Germany and together with Bavarian forest create the largest forested area in Central Europe🏞. It is often called “the green roof of Europe” and it is also famous for crystal-clear glacial lakes and peat bogs.
We are going to start our adventure early in the morning to get to Nové Údolí by train🚆. Then we are going to hike🚶♂️🚶♀️to Třístoličník mountain and Plechý mountain, which is the highest peak 🏔 of the Šumava Mountains (1378 m). Plechý is known for a view of the glacial lake 🐟(Plešné jezero), a monument dedicated to writer and poet Adalbert Stifter, and of course as a beautiful viewpoint into the whole National Park🏞️. We will finish our trip in Nová Pec from where we are going to take the train to get back to České Budějovice (22 km by foot and 7,5 hours of walking in total) and the estimated arrival is around 19:45 pm.
