The goal of the event is to show international students the lovely cities we have in Slovakia and to experience something they might not have before - going into the mines.
We went on a trip to Banská Štiavnica, starting with the Slovak Mining Museum and an underground tour of the Bartolomej Gallery. We put on special coats, helmets and grabbed flashlights to explore the dark tunnels safely. About 50 meters below the surface, we wandered through the old mining passages and learned so much about the miners’ lives and mining techniques – it was both fascinating and a bit thrilling.
Once back above ground, we strolled around the town, soaking in its historic charm. We stopped for coffee at the iconic Divná Pani café, enjoying a relaxing break and some local treats. To finish off the day, we popped into a second-hand bookstore to check out Slovak literary heritage and admire the collection of old books. It was a perfect mix of history, culture, and just enjoying the beautiful town.
