- International students here in Pisa the many hidden gems of our city, especially those that are free for students: we tried to create a group of people with a diverse background sharing an interest in culture, and we showed them some of the museums they can have access too (avoiding the most famous ones, where students generally go).
The activity consisted of a series of events: we called it "A Thursday at the Museum" so that International students would perceive it as a weekly appointment, and they actually did. We had the first visit at the Museum of Human Anatomy, the second at the Botanical Garden, and the last one at Palazzo Blu, a museum of Pisa that was hosting an exhibition about the Macchiaioli. For the first visit the guide was included in the entrance: we spent an afternoon at the museum, with a group of circa 15 people (the maximum allowed by the museum), and we had a lot of positive feedback. The second event had no tour guide included, so we studied the history of the Garden and some of the Volunteers offered as guides for the visit. For the last one we had no chance to book a tour guide, so once again, our volunteers studied the object of the exhibition and did a great job at explaining everything in detail to the International students. Already at the first event we managed to create a group of loyal participants, and the activity was very well received by the International students.
