The goal of this activity was to allow new members to get to know each other and discover something new about ESN. We also wanted to help with the renewal process of the forest on Ondťejník mountain.
We have enjoyed our teambuilding under the mighty Beskydy mountains. The main purpose of teambuilding was to bring the member closer together, especially regarding the newbies who participated in the activity (4 of them). We have hosted various activities to show us the importance of trust and support in a team. After the activities, we had a barbecue.
On Saturday, we hiked to Ondřejník mountain, where we participated in an activity organised by the Moravian-Silesian region and Biskupské lesy called Stromy pro Ondřejník. The trees on Ondřejník were badly damaged by bark beetle in recent years and the hill now looks very empty and sad. Members of ESN have planted over 100 young trees on the plains under the top of Ondřejník mountain to help with the restoration of the forest. Then we hiked back to the cottage in Metylovice.
In the afternoon, our Event Coordinator hosted a workshop on event management and organising skills. We went through the whole process of organising an event from idea, preparations and planning through the event itself to reporting and financial analysis afterwards. Members were then divided into groups, created their own event, and presented it to others.
Then one of our experienced members hosted a session on the new Erasmus Programme, introduced its priorities and possibilities, and presented the digital tools such as OLA and Erasmus without paper. We have also talked about the possibilities of the contribution of our section to fulfil the priorities of the new programme.
The last part of this was a public speaking workshop. First, we introduced some tips on how to approach such challenges and how to overcome fear. Everybody got a random topic, which then they had to talk about for one minute. Then we gave feedback to the speaker. After all speakers, we have shared the tips and tricks on how to overcome fear and talk publically with confidence. Even our very shy members have overcome their fear of speaking publically within our small ESN family, which is a great beginning.
