The Surf Trip is an activity that ESN Coimbra does several times a year in order to promote and celebrate the Health and Well-Being cause. However, we felt that there was something missing within this activity, there was a need to give the Surf Trip a little twist that embraced both the surfing sport and the environment in which it was practiced, the beach. With this goal in mind, the “new” initiative for the Surf Trip was born.
The surf classes were split into two moments of the day, 30 participants had their class in the morning and the other 30 had their class in the afternoon. While waiting for the other group to finish their respective class, the other group, along with our volunteers, participated in other activities, such as beach cleaning and games that focused on physical health and integration in the student community (since it was the Welcome Month they were only starting to get to know each other).
To sum up, in the three days that this initiative took place, ESN Coimbra managed to feature not only the Health and Well-Being cause, but also the Environmental Sustainability and Social Inclusion causes.
