Goal of the Activity

The goal of this activity was to spread joy, connection, and inclusion during the Christmas season by organizing events that promoted kindness, cultural exchange, and community integration. Through acts of giving, sharing, and storytelling, the initiative aimed to bring people together, break down barriers, and create a sense of belonging while spreading the spirit of Christmas across our communities.

Description

In the true spirit of Christmas, ESN Deggendorf and ESN Regensburg joined forces to bring joy, connection and kindness to our communities through ‘Spread the Christmas Joy’, a project dedicated to giving and sharing. This remarkable initiative, which consisted of three smaller events and one heart-warming main event, left a lasting impression on everyone involved.

Find out how we spread the joy here in Bavaria:

🎄 Mulled wine for a good cause: ESN Deggendorf warmed hearts and hands by selling delicious mulled wine, raising funds to support the following events and donating the remaining profits to charity.

🍪 Baking a smile, one biscuit at a time: With floury hands and festive cheer from ESN Deggendorf volunteers, we baked Christmas biscuits and spread the joy of giving by sharing treats with participants.

💌 Making Christmas cards with love: ESN Regensburg organised a creative card-making session where heartfelt messages of hope and joy were written to make others smile.

🌟 Tell Your Story - The grand finale: The highlight of our project brought people together, especially those with language barriers or a migration background, to share their stories, thoughts and moments of joy. With free drinks, home-baked biscuits and hand-designed Christmas cards, ESN Deggendorf and ESN Regensburg created a welcoming space in the city centre of Regensburg where everyone felt seen, heard and celebrated. Simple banners asked questions like ‘How is your day?’ and ‘What made you smile today?’ which led to meaningful conversations and connections.
This project was about celebrating Christmas and building bridges, promoting integration and creating a wave of kindness that reaches across borders.

Together, we proved that a little giving and sharing can go a long way towards creating a better world. Let's keep the joy of Christmas alive - one story, one smile, one act of kindness at a time.

We hope that this initiative is an example of the ESN spirit of inclusion, collaboration, and impact, and we believe it deserves recognition for the difference it has made in our communities.
