While this week’s Tandem Meeting was not at all like the others, all the goals from the regular Tandem Meetings were covered. Each participant could learn about other cultures and other languages, just in a slightly different, themed form. The event supported conversations in a foreign language, discussing and embracing cultural differences.
The Special Tandem was an experience straight from The Little Prince, a magical novella known from our childhood. Participants could step into a universe of exploration, where each station representing one planet brought new adventures and a chance to meet amazing people from all around the world. Each planet had a unique theme, which helped the participants to discover languages in an usual, fascinating way. At the beginning of the event, each person got their own passport, which they could customize and use as a place for the stickers received while visiting planets.
Everyone could not only learn romantic phrases and compliments in a foreign language on the Panet of Roses, but also friendly small talk on the Fox’s Planet. While visiting Businessman’s Planet, one could get to know practical travel phrases, needed while buying things abroad. The event gained its magic also from the Starry Desert, representing dreams, wishes and aspirations, as well as Geographer’s Planet with key phrases and fun facts about other countries.
The event, although conducted on a rainy day, was organized in such a magical atmosphere, that every participant could forget about their worries. The decorations and props helped to transfer directly to the world from The Little Prince. It was certainly a kind of meeting that participants won’t be able to forget about.
