ESN Ås organized the SIYE Workshop (Social Impact and Youth Engagement) where social impact meets youth engagement to explore meaningful discussions and connect with like-minded individuals. This particular workshop aims to develop awareness among youth on the sensitive topic of racism and discrimination. It also aims to equip participants with essential critical thinking skills and help young people understand and speak out against racism.
For this we put a sign-up form on our social media pages with 20 seats for the workshop. We have Whatsapp groups and Social Media pages on Instagram and Facebook with all our active members and we promoted the event there in Both Norwegian and English. As a part of the workshop, there included many interactive exercises, group discussion, group work and energizers along with sensitive topics which were spoken only after getting consent from each participant and everything associated with sensitivity was taken care of with utmost importance. Four main topics were covered; Racism and discrimination definition and different terminologies, How culture impacts discrimination, what is social impact and how youth can be engaged. We served pizza for the evening and soda, and cookies too. The workshop was for 4 hours and everyone did it with utmost interest in the topic. For record purpose we also took the attendance.
