The goal of our events is to help students get to know the city and it's surroundings.
Also we want to bring them together to find new friends and get to know other cultures, for this we organize different events like parties, trips, sports events and many more.
We published the event with this description:
Among the highest peaks of the Northern Karwendel Range is the massive Wörner, which lies prominently in the arched area of the range. Its impressive 500m north face drops steeply to a saddle, from which a surprisingly gentle ridge extends essentially in a westerly direction. On this ridge, the Wörnerkopf, sometimes also called Steinkarkopf, is a wonderful vantage point. The view from there goes in almost all directions - only the Wörner in the south blocks the view, of course. But this is not a shortcoming, because its imposing, forbidding northern and western flanks can also be marveled comfortably.
Route description: From Mittenwald, comfortable valley paths first lead to the foot of the Schwarzkopf. A steep path leads along its flank to the Rehbergalm and further to the Zunterweidkopf, a first beautiful viewpoint. The route then continues along the ridge, which is easy to walk, to the Wörnerkopf, the destination of this tour. After a restful break at the summit, we descend via the Wörnersattel to the Hochlandhütte and through dense forests back to Mittenwald.
The hike is not very well-known and especially in winter there are very few people, so we can enjoy the calm beauty of the mountains for ourselfes.
The hike is long and demanding with 18km and 1100m of elevation we expect a walking time of around 7 hours. You must be in a decent sporty condition and have experience with hiking to participate.
Attention: This hike is not for beginners! Only sign up if you have some experience and proper equipment.
Hiking in the mountains always poses risks. When there is snow there is the additional and potentially lethal danger of avalanches. We will try to minimise the risks but there is no such thing as guaranteed safety. Avalanches can happen at any time. I hereby acknowledge that I know and understand the dangers of hiking in general and the additional dangers in snowy conditions and willingly take that risk. The tutors are no professional mountain hiking guides and everybody is responsible for themselves.
If you show up with inappropriate equipment or aren't fit enough you might be excluded from the trip.
Necessary equipment:
-Hiking boots that go over the ankle (sneakers are definitely not appropriate for this trip)
-Hiking backpack
-Hiking poles or Grödel (special, flexible crampons for hiking)! There is one short section which is pretty steep which may be impassable otherwise, depending on the conditions. Hiking poles provide extra stability in difficult terrain and make hiking easier, Grödel help a lot with grip on slippery ground. Ideally you bring both. Can be rented from the alpine club:
https://www.ausruestungslager.de/ (only if you are a member of the alpine club, 34€ per year, ask us if you need more information)

-Sunglasses
Optional but highly recommended:
Gaiters: Withouth them, depending on the amount of snow, your pants may get wet and cold on the bottom
Headlamp: In case something doesn't go as planned we might end up in darkness, so if you have a headlamp please bring it.
How to rent stuff from the alpine club (meeting from the 3-day snowhike; as opposed to the 3-day hike we will not provide you with any equipment!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SReKbcn23P4
