Participants learned two choreographies: one in pairs and one performed separately by girls and boys. The session was active, inclusive, and helped students explore Slovak culture through music and movement.
We organized a Slovak folk-dance class for Erasmus students, led by two instructors, Miška and Miško. Both are members of Stavbár, the folk dance group from our university.
The session began with an introduction to the basics of Slovak folk dancing. Miška and Miško demonstrated key steps and movements, helping participants get familiar with the rhythm and style. After the warm-up, they taught two choreographies to traditional Slovak songs. The first was performed in pairs, allowing participants to practice coordination and partner work. The second was danced separately by girls and boys, each group learning their own part of the routine.
The group consisted of four girls and seven boys. Everyone actively took part, and the instructors ensured that the pace of the class was adapted to the group's experience level.
By the end of the session, all participants were able to perform both choreographies together. The class offered a fun and active way to experience Slovak culture and traditions through music and movement.
