Goal of the Activity

Sip 'N Speak holds a special place in our weekly event calendar, as it provides a relaxed and welcoming environment for our students to come together, engage in meaningful conversations, and foster a deeper understanding of one another's cultures and languages. At its core, Sip 'N Speak serves as a platform for students to connect, establish new friendships, and embrace the cultural diversity within our community.

Typically, this event caters to students who are eager to expand their language skills by providing a space for language exchange and learning.

However, with the 26th of September being celebrated as Turkish Language Day, we saw a unique opportunity to celebrate and share the beauty of the Turkish language with our international students. In light of this occasion, we decided to dedicate a Sip 'N Speak event exclusively to the Turkish language and culture. This special edition not only honors the significance of Turkish Language Day but also aligns with our commitment to promoting cross-cultural understanding and embracing the rich tapestry of languages that make up our student body.

Description

We met up with our students at The Moda Park in Kadıköy and asked them to bring a pen and some paper so we could teach them basic Turkish so they could get around the city without struggling. We made little groups with a native Turkish speaker in them and we taught them all the useful phrases.
