do you want to go to the Zoo?
Founded in 1752 by Emperor Franz I Stephan of Lorraine, Schönbrunn Zoo is the world's oldest zoo, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn. It has earned the title of Europe's best zoo six times (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2021). The zoo boasts remarkable breeding achievements, including the first-ever breeding of the Batagur river turtle and Winker frogs, garnering international recognition. Drawing over 2 million visitors annually since 2006, it is a blend of baroque history and contemporary animal care, spread over 17 hectares. Housing 650 endangered species, its star attractions are the giant pandas, part of a conservation initiative by the People's Republic of China.
