The goal was to spend an afternoon with international students playing outdoors together and sharing a "merenda".
We organized an event inspired by the traditional village fairs of Italy, bringing together our international students and members of other sections of the ESN Network. The event featured two game sessions, interspersed with an International Solidarity Snack. During the snack break, participants had the chance to taste local dishes prepared by our association’s volunteers, alongside international specialties cooked by Erasmus students. All proceeds from the "merenda" were donated to Giocamico, a local organization that provides companionship and organizes activities for children in Parma's hospital.
After the games, participants were awarded prizes in various categories, such as the Erasmus with the highest score and the Erasmus who prepared the best dish from their home country. The day concluded with a lively disco party. Additionally, a city tour of Parma, guided by our volunteers, was offered to our guests.
Planning for the event began in March 2024, with volunteers divided into specific working groups: Logistics, Meals, Social Program and City Tour, Communication, Games and Decorations, Treasury, and Registrations. A total of 73 participants attended, including local Erasmus students, volunteers, and Erasmus students and ESNers from other sections of the Network. Represented sections included ESN Brescia, ESN Insubria, ESN Roma Luiss, ESN Torino, ESN Milano Bocconi, ESN Udine, and ESN Trieste.
We were proud to partner with Giocamico, the Municipality of Parma, and the University of Parma, both of which granted us their sponsorship. The event was held at the Centro Giovani Federale, generously provided by the Municipality.
The event was highly appreciated for its diverse and inclusive nature, combining playful activities accessible to everyone, a multicultural and charitable experience, and an evening of celebration. Our ultimate goal was to raise funds for a noble cause: improving the conditions of children in the hospital. This mission was carried out through an afternoon of fun, discovery, and the sharing of cultures, both local and international.
