November the 25th it’s the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today which also remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the color orange is used to represent a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls. ESN Rimini invited all erasmus and international students to a public walk organized by the City of Rimini on Saturday afternoon, November the 26th in order to make them participate to a annual recurrent local social initiative and to make them feel valued and included, during such an important international Day.
Esners gave a meeting point half an hour before the walk would start to collect the participants and then our group merged within the local community. The walk covered the most important cultural points in the city center and was accompanied by the constant music of the town band. At the end of the walk some important institutional figures talked on the stage to explain the objectives of the walk and what they want Rimini to pursue in order to protect women who are subject to domestic violence and to the many other forms of violence such as verbal, psychological, emotional, economic. After there were to two dance shows organized and performed by Iranian women before and ukrainian women then. it was an intense moment due to the consciousness of the difficult situations in which Iran and Ukraine actually are today.
