The goal of the event, aimed at Erasmus university students, is to raise awareness and inspire participants about sustainability and responsible consumption, particularly in the context of ethical fashion. Given that the audience is young and international, the event seeks to highlight the importance of reducing environmental impact through small everyday actions, which can be reflected in university life (for example, by making more conscious purchases or choosing eco-friendly alternatives).
Francesca Boni’s talk, having built a community dedicated to sustainability, will offer practical insights and demonstrate how even young people can make a difference, regardless of their resources. The approach will be interactive, with moments for collective reflection, discussion, and Q&A, aiming to spark curiosity and action toward a greener future.
ST.E.P. ESN Pavia, in collaboration with Francesca Boni, hosted a special conference on sustainability, ethical fashion, and mindful consumer choices, designed specifically for Erasmus students. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reducing environmental impact through simple, everyday actions, even when living in a foreign country. Francesca Boni, the founder of Il Vestito Verde, a community of over 35,000 people committed to responsible consumption, shared her inspiring journey and experiences.
During the conference, Francesca discussed her path toward sustainability, from the early days of her Facebook group in 2017 to the creation of a platform with more than half a million annual visitors. She also offered practical tips on how students can incorporate sustainability into their daily lives, even on a limited budget, and how their choices can contribute to a greener future.
The event wasn’t just about listening—it was interactive. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in discussions, reflect on their own habits, and ask questions, creating a collaborative environment for learning and growth.
In addition to the conference, there was a hands-on workshop where participants explored practical techniques for embracing sustainability in fashion, from upcycling old clothes to choosing eco-friendly brands. The workshop offered students concrete tools to apply the concepts discussed and empower them to make more sustainable choices moving forward.
By combining education, inspiration, and practical application, the event sought to motivate Erasmus students to rethink their consumption habits and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle during their studies and beyond.
