Goal of the Activity

The main objective of the Book Club is to foster critical thinking and promote deeper understanding of complex social themes, such as human rights, diversity, and cultural challenges, through shared discussion. By analyzing texts focused on social issues, participants gain diverse perspectives and develop greater empathy.

In addition, the club serves as a low-pressure social platform to encourage intercultural dialogue and integration. It creates a space where students from various backgrounds can connect, discuss meaningful topics, and build strong relationships based on mutual respect and intellectual curiosity.

Description

The Social Themes Book Club is a relaxed, open discussion meeting where participants are invited to talk about any book they have recently read that touches upon important social, ethical, or cultural issues. There is no pre-selected required reading.

The meeting begins with participants introducing their chosen books and reflections. The organizer facilitates the discussion using questions to ensure the conversation remains engaging and inclusive, preventing quiet moments. This activity is a fantastic opportunity for students to practice language skills, share personal connections to literature, and deepen their understanding of global social challenges while building a close-knit intellectual community.
