Creating a safe space for LGBTQ exchange students where they can experience (sometimes for the first time) that they can be open about themselves, and an opportunity to meet similar people.
Meet up with us for the most common summer activity in Munich: doing nothing. And what better place to do nothing than in Englischer Garten? Since doing nothing can get very tiring, we want to have a nice and queer picnic together.
We will play some icebreaker games and provide board games but you have to bring your own snacks and drinks!
Volunteers organised a picnic in the park. A rainbow TUMi flag helped the participants to find the group.
Volunteers prepared with sports equipments and board games some activities for bonding. Participants and members spent a sunny afternoon playing games, frisbee, talking and getting to know each other and the life as a queer person in Munich.
Outcomes
providing a safe space for queer exchange students to meet others, see that they are not alone and be themselves.
meeting other LGBTQ students can be difficult on their own in a conservative city like Munich and with this we help students a lot to find their community abroad
