participants
- - To gather funds, along with the association Rosa Navidad, to fight against breast cancer.
- - To raise awareness and give visibility to the need of fighting against the diseases that affect a great part of society.
- - To give an extra value to the party activities, achieving a positive impact.
- - To implicate the international students by asking them to come dressed in colour pink to create a collaboration spirit inside of the party.
- - To cooperate with a local partner, besides than with the association, to donate all the money generated on the party for the same cause.
These goals were achieved by raising more than 300€, plus all the money made by the partner club that night.
We contacted Rosa Navidad, an association in a nearby town that raises money to fight cancer. They gave us materials: a couple of closed piggy banks to put money in, bracelets to sell, pink ribbons for clothing, brochures and information cards. In addition, they left us a large wood pink ribbon to use in pictures.
We hosted a party at a local partner, Dr Jekyll, with pink theme. The idea of the party was to raise funds for the association in several ways:
- - Solidary Shot: for a 1€ contribution, attendants could receive a shot at the bar courtesy of the establishment.
- - Bracelets of the association: they were sold for 1€ in the same place as the shots.
- - Free donations: all attendees could donate money freely in a couple of closed money piggy banks that were “guarded” by the volunteers.
- - Bar box collection: in addition to the donations, we agreed with the partner bar that all the money collected that night would be donated to the Rosa Navidad association. Normally, these profits are around 200€.
-
- Throughout the night, we had a stand at the door of the bar with the piggy banks, ribbons, bracelets and all the information about the association, and we were doing rotating shifts among the volunteers.
