Description

Join our hike in the heart of the middle Rhine valley and explore the UNESCO World Heritage by foot and ferry!

We'll take the train to Kaub and cross the Rhine for a first time passing a first castle, Pfalzgrafenstein, located on an island in the middle of the Rhine. From there it takes us up to Schönburg, the medieval town of Oberwesel, vineyards, views at Günderrodehaus, Büttenplatz and Maria Ruh, where we'll have the best view of the famous rock of Loreley. After a small descent to St. Goar we'll take the second ferry back to the other side of the Rhine, from where we'll see the castles Katz and Maus as well as the huge castle ruin of Rheinfels. Having reached St. Goarshausen we might search for a nice restaurant or start our way back to Darmstadt.

There will be costs of ~6€ for the ferries and small parts of the train ride, less for Deutschland-Ticket holders, more for people without a Semester ticket.

Bring enough drinks and snacks for the day!
