We wanted to celebrate the Independence Day of our neighbours – Belarus (25.03). There are some ESN UMCS members, who are from Belarus, so it was an important case for us. We wanted to share awareness about the problem of political prisoners and about the current situation in Belarus.
On the 25th of March there is celebrated the historical Independence Day of Belarus. In honour of this day, we wanted to write to the political prisoners a few words of support and approval for their struggle to live in a free country with fair laws. Also, to tell them how brave they are for not betraying their principles and standing up for the truth despite the known dangers. During the two weeks we were collecting all the letters. Participants could write either two sentences or a proper letter. Then, we compiled them into a single letter, translated it into Russian, and finally send it to the Belarusian political prisoners.
