Goal of the Activity

Recycling is one of the easiest way in our possess to help the planet. However, recycling systems change from country to country, and in Italy also from a municipality to another. Considering these two factors, common sense is not enough: we wanted to make sure that our Erasmus students undestood Macerata’s recycling system, and, if not, help them know the basics with a simple quiz through Instagram stories.

Description

After introducing the topic, which was titled "LET'S NOT WASTE time and energies recycling wrong", we tested our Erasmus students' knowledge of Macerata's recycling system with five basic question via Instagram stories. Three questions were about the colored bins and waste bags that can be found in Macerata and asked what those colors meant: (1) blue for glass and ceramics; (2) green for organic waste; and (3) yellow for unsorted municipal waste. The last two questions asked about two "tricky" elements that are recycled differently according to the local recycling system, which are milk cartons -that in Macerata go with paper rubbish-, and beer cans -that go with plastic waste-.
Furthermore, each question had a multiple choice format made by three possible answer. While receving answers, Instagram gave the feedback highlighting in green the correct one.
